What are Brainsprouts?
I have a few poet friends who convinced me to attend a poetry open mike night a
couple of years ago. Many of the poets were fantastic but I found that most of the
poems were in free verse, many pages long and very "deep".
As I looked around me I could see peoples mental limits being tested as they took in so many long deep poems,
so in an effort to provide some variation I decided to write a whole lot of very short nonsensical
poems (2-3 lines each having 8 syllables or less) to be performed in between the other
poems.
So Brainsprouts were born (so named because as I wrote them they seemed to sprout from
my brain requiring very little conscious thought). I would perform 10-15 Brainsprouts in
a few seconds and strike a triangle in between so that people would know when one ended
and the next began.

When showing the Brainsprouts I had written to My friend Geoff, he suggested that I should
put them to music and convinced me that he was the man to help me. So over the next few months
we recorded a Brainsprout album consisting of 60 tracks (making . I am sure that this is
some sort of a world record, especially seeing that no one piece of music is longer than 26
seconds long.
